I went fishing yesterday down from the steps on the San Gabriel. Did not catch one crappie. Was wondering if the crappie have started spawning or are staging down river and if this area was good for fishing.

Yesterday was my first outing to this fishing spot and do not know the lake and river well and was hoping somebody could guide me on where I could find some slabs!

It is just about over. Very few are catching them shallow any more. They are starting to transition back to the main lake.

JMC go try the primitive boat area near the lake. Will be hard to find the brush but people tie Christmas trees to the roots on the steep bank there at or below the water line. Look for old ski rope. Minnows is usually the way I fished them. Due to being able to use an oz weight to get unstuck. It is a straight down fishing,or slip cork situation. Things change with time but but you can find a mess there. Night time with a lantern is good too. Goodluck

Can someone please please please just give up one location of a brush pile? Please PM me. I don't have a good electronics but I have the narvonics app so I can put in coordinates. Thank you very much. I spent and hour fishing the banks for crappie with minnows. Not a single nibble. Found some semi submerged brush pile on the other side of the lake still no luck. I think all the fish are deep now. That was my first time targeting crappie with little success. Then I went to main lake points to fish for catfish with shad. Instead of some blue cats we got a 30lb gar and a small tire size snapping turtle. It was beautiful out there but i think the cold front from last couple days shut them down. Thanks for any information. Is it true that the gas station near by taylor park sells a map with brush piles coordinates.

Fishing is fun and adictive, but always stay safe. Happy Fishing!

If you can tell depth, launch from Fox and go either way and stay in 8 to 10 ft water and you will find brush piles. There are several BP in front of fishing pier at Fox. Good luck.

What he said.
If you can't find Bp's here then you do not know what you are looking for.
