Hi All,

We're making our yearly journey down to TB this upcoming weekend. It looks like we might catch a break this year and have good weather. In the past, we've hit floods, crazy winds, and big cold fronts.

We're staying in San Miguel, but will go where the fish are during the day. I've read all the recent reports on here for TB. We'll be throwing all the usual stuff shallow around the flooded vegetation and buck brush. I get to Toledo once or twice a year.

Any current reports on what the fish are doing? Anyone know a guide that might be available on Thursday? I called Darold Gleason last week and he's booked. It's a long shot, but worth a question. smile

Hi. Just fished Fri-Sun for a local club tourney. Stayed mostly in the Palo Gaucho area due to winds on the main lake. Water is stained pretty good and temps were hitting 70* by end of yesterday. Never noticed and beds but all our bites were in really shallow water. Have to skip baits back into the brush(aiming at the cypress tree bases) and would get hits. I'd say maybe a foot of water back in there as the boat was in 2-3'. Black/blue and black neon seemed to be the best for us but others at the weigh-ins said watermelon red so guess its just a confidence thing. Good luck out there!!

I don't know if he is booked or not,,,,but try Stephen Johnston.
The man certainly knows where the fish are on TB.
he did a great job in adverse weather (wind) conditions a couple of weeks ago and put his clients on some great fish for 5 days.
great guy to fish with.
I would recommend him to anyone.

Thanks for the tips and guide information. I will plan to carry a spincast with me to try my luck skipping back under the low limbs. I'm not very good skipping with a baitcaster. smile

Has anyone caught any fish in deeper water lately? Docks working yet? Is there any matted vegetation left after the flood?

Crig on the secondary points. Plenty of post spawners to catch. Outside edge of haygrass

Thanks for the info Jaret and Andrew. We'll give the c-rig a shot and I'll give David a call.

Weather forecast is still looking good, so we should be able to boat a few.

Looks like the weather is gonna be nice for the trip. I'll be on the water around lunch tomorrow. Any additional up to the minute tips to share?? I'll try to give a report when we get back for those going next week. We should have 4 boats running around trying to establish a pattern.

QQ: If I currently have a TX fishing license do I also need a LA fishing license to fish TB?

fish- if you have a TX license you are good to launch from TX side ramps. if you launch "on" the LA side you would need the LA license.

That does not seem to be the case when we fish Bass Champs. No mention has ever been made that you need a LA license when launching on LA side. We go out of Cypress Bend. No signage or anything like that at all is posted. The way I read it on TP&W is the lake recognizes license reciprocity.

Wrong. They honor either license on Toledo.

Your correct Mark, either license is good anywhere on the lake.
