Pressure! and possibly older fish don't spawn as much or as successful as when they were younger just like any other animal species and humanoids!

Maybe the tpwd should experiment with lake fertilization and stop the stocking of grass carp?

The bottom line is this...
That a dozen or fewer 13+ lb bass/yr live, die, spawn in captivity or not doesn't directly impact the quality nor quantity of big bass in Texas.
SAL doesn't cost the taxpayers of Texas a dime.
The attention (and increased revenue) SAL has generated around bass fishing in Texas, over the past 30 years, far exceeds any monetary contributions to the program.
How much does Toyota or whomever pay for it, How much do they pay each year? Does TPWD release Financial? I trust the TPWD as far as I can throw them....... Still waiting for an answer on this one.... Are there financial released? How much does Toyota pay yearly to fund SAL? Sorry Jack, you'll just have to do that research for yourself. But you may have a hard time, since Gulf States Toyota is a private company.

My uncle called them about a fish he caught on Palestine. It settled on 12.99 on there scales 6 hrs after he caught it. They didn't take it. He was pretty bumbed that it wasn't a sharelunker, but still excited about the fish.

I think Lake Fork showed us what our max potential is for huge bass in Texas.
It had the best of everything working in it's favor and it was amazing for a long time. Unfortunately time has worn away much of that potential and now it is what it is.
Our most limiting factor in Texas is extremes in temperature. Some years aren't too bad, but we normally have very hot summers and every few years we get a brutally cold winter with some extended periods of temps in the teens and even colder. This is stressful on the fish and not conducive to growing giant and long lived largemouths.
Fish of 15+ lbs from public waters may be a thing of the past now. Private waters like CB may be the only places where they will show up. However! These places are not immune to the weather. An extemely hot summer or more likely a wintery deep freeze could possibly wipe out or deal a huge blow to such a place. I have seen it happen in the past. there was a 15+ caught at roberts last year, one out of caddo this year

Four. With an outstanding 2015 and what looks to be another in 2016. Those 2015 fish weigh 1.25-1.5 lbs on average. Give them 2 more years of stable water and they'll be chunky slots. As to anyone pointing out the loss of age classes. In so many words, yes. It was. Go back and read 'NoWeighers' comments early on in this thread.

Hard to grow multiple giants w/o water. Stable water levels over multiple, concurrent years seems to be the constant in 13+ lb largemouth.

As long as he in there Toyota will sponsor, always follow the money as usual....... Huh? Where in the financial statements did you find that? Dan Friedken is nothing but class. You obviously don't know the man nor anything about him. Dan was on the Commission before Toyota began sponsoring SAL. And you know that little derby called Toyota Texas Bass Classic? The $250,000/yr raised for TPWD inner city fishing programs every year, it wouldn't have ever happened had Dan Friedken not gotten behind it. I don't know how you formulated your opinion RR, but if you spent five minutes with the man I'll guarantee you'd feel like an azz for your misplaced comments above.
