Hello everyone , just looking for any advice to when is the best time of the year to fish Galveston . I'm trying to plan a trip down there. I live in Dallas and it's quite a drive but I sure enjoy fishing salt water. Went there last year in July for a weekend and didn't have much luck. Any tips? Thanks in advance.

What are you looking to catch? Are you going after bull reds, shark, specks or just anything in general? I normally don't start fishing the surf until the water temp exceeds 70 degrees. I fish for all the above listed fish and have better luck in May. I'll fish the surf from May through October.

Surf is really hit or miss until mid July. When the green water hits the surf it's game on, if not, it's just not. Unless you're just throwing dead meat on the bottom, then I wouldn't have a clue.

I like that area in late September to October. Bull reds, shrimp in close, gafftops, sharks, etc etc

I don't go to Galveston much, so when I do I usually drive down the sea wall Blvd early in the morning looking for the wade fisherman, then I will set up on the nearest rock jetty and fish there. Shrimp, mullet, jigs, etc.. Switching up until things start biting.
