Jos and I made a quick trip east last weekend, and fished a few hours Saturday evening. Wasn't as good as we had hoped, but we did get into a few nice ones...

Even converted a young man who was disrespecting "perch" earlier... heheheheh! He caught three about this size...

Saw a largemouth cruisin' the shallows around an old bed, and gave Jos a quick lesson... She learns fast!

Gorgeous weekend to be in East Texas...

It's good to be alive!

Great job and nice pics. Can't beat some of those Texas wildflowers. You're going to be fighting for a spot with that kid "perch" fishing every time you go out there now though!

East Texas has a special charm like no other place on earth. Normally moves a little slower, and is a little more relaxed, than most places. Spring time and fishing go hand in hand.

This is so true. I also love East Texas for all the reasons mentioned. Y'all left out the smell. When we had a place on Cypress Springs we would roll our windows down when we turned into Tall Tree so we could smell the pines.

Nice post and excellent photography. Thanks for sharing your time in east texas with us.

Ahh yes, the aroma of the Piney Woods. I was raised in Marshall, now have a place in Point Blank. Every time we visit the place the dogs perk up when we get in the woods. They ride the last twenty miles or so with the nose in the wind. Love it!
