I think my winch is going out. Never had to replace one of these before. EZ load trailer with 18' aluminum boat. What do I need to know? Is there a brand I need to go with or stay away from? Any help appreciated.

Stay away from the ones at Academy the bow hook is not large enough to go over some bow eyes...ask me how I know! Try to get a name brand. Dutton-Lainson is what I ended up getting from Cabelas because they are convenient to me and a good American made winch, and they're also on sale right now. Fulton is another good one and also make sure the handle isn't too long to turn without hitting your boat. Check the websites for the brands I mentioned to see what size they recommend or it may possibly be stamped on the winch you have now.
