Does anyone have eyes on Lake Whitney recently? The TPWD weekly reports seem to be a little vague on that particular lake. It seems like a lifetime ago that I was there! Not a lot of flats, but the timing was right for some wild buffalo.

I've never fished Whitney but that's a heck of a nice buffalo.

Carp are in the shallows right now. There's a huge flat on the opposite side of Mcowen park on the north east side of Katy Bridge. Excellent flyfishing. Spawning bass too. Water should be clear.

Like the sounds of that! That was a good fish by my standards! Bottomed out a 15# Boga, so I have no idea what it weighed. About 20 I guess. That's why I want to get back there!

lake is extremely full, and rivers flowing into it are backed up. I would think the flats and shallows would be flooded vegetation?? hearing great reports in the rivers

From few weeks ago sorry was trying to get it back in the water and was in literal quick sand but like stated flats will be heavy brush up river good. Flooded Bermuda grass is a pain with clousers. Commons been good as well as massive gar. Ok ok one or two striped fish as well but need a boat.

Hey texasflycaster, if you ever want to fish Whitney, give me a shout. We'll get into some Whitney reds. I've got excellent spots to carp fish in pecan plantation also.

I'm in Hillsnowhere Jesse if you get down this way. Send me a PM, but I do like to fly fish.
I'm on other forums that deal with the old turbo powered Buicks.;)
