Im gonna head out tomorrow to the park in the colony (across water from 121 marina). Was wondering if anyone could give some basic info on what depths cats should be at around this time of year... Ive never fished cats on a big lake/resivoir... always in small stocked lake/ponds. Been getting skunked on everytime I go since I dont want to keep a cat thats just barely over legal bag lengths..

Go on thru the colony and there's a bridge that crosses that arm. That closed park there is holding fish.

@LewisvilleCatfish Do you mean Eastvale Park next to the Blue Star Sports Complex?

Not sure. Never seen it by land. But it's across the road from some kind of athletic park

Ran into Texasian yesterday at the eastvale park. Thanks for the info! Thats a much better place to fish than the colony park across from pier 121!
Caught a couple channels and almost landed a monster carp until it snapped the treble hook in half... LOL!

Great to meet you too! Ended up with just the one decent sized channel cat. Had it for dinner tonight...delish! Will definitely be back there soon.

No fee that I know of, but it's behind the Sports Complex and I think they run the park, but so far I've never been hassled. I do know that they lock the entrance gate at night so no night fishing.
@acbrown1977 I use circle hooks for catch and release. Almost always gets hooked in the lips and makes for easy removal....also, I don't have to set the hook!

Yeah I rode by this place this evening around 8:00 and the gate was locked and I see that its hard finding a night banking spot at Lewisville Lake. Looks like Ray Hubbard is where I will have to continue to night fish.

White Rock is great for night fishing! Easy access to plenty of lighted piers and plenty of good eating-size channels!

eastvale wouldnt be too great for night fishing even if you could get out of the gate... too much junk to walk through that will hold snakes. The shad is there BIG TIME though... got a mix of small to even 4 or 5 inchers cast netting yesterdsay. Only down side is you have a lot of logs to snag on... and tons of little spikey seed things.
