If you don't have the boat lane chip and aren't sure, DON'T RUN!!!!
The boat lanes are marked with buoys down the center. Stay in them and follow from buoy to buoy.

Launch at any of the main launches. And you'll be close to a lane. You can run parallel to the bridges along the old road beds and clear-cut areas. Don't get too close, and be courteous of anglers under the bridges.

All bridges are no-wake zones. Shut down before the bridge and idle under!

Even if an area looks clear, use caution. There is a lot that you cant see with the lake full.

Which end of the lake would you like to focus more on? LFM doesn't have any marked buoy lanes near it(FYI). There are many locations that do have the marked buoys real close to launch though jst depending on which end you are wanting to fish.

Well maybe I used the wrong word..."run" to me with a new to me boat and on a lake like Fork just means launching and beating the bank, docks, creeks. I don't have any interest in running wide open on the first time to Fork, just want to wear my TM batteries out. That's why I ask about ramps and their location near the areas I deacribed. Appreciate all the feedback so far.

Put in at the 515 East Ramp, when pulling away from ramp turn right, drop trolling motor and fish. Theres some pockets, creeks, and docks as far to the south from there as you wanna go. Wont ever need to put the boat on pad, just idle and TM. thumb

Don't be afraid to run wide open as long as you are hugging those buoys. They are true. However if you hit the last buoy in a cut or all the sudden you get off course. SHUT ER DOWN. Saw a guy out there make a wrong turn at a buoy (i guess he thought he was good) and not 4 boat lengths off course he plowed a stump. Luckily he was in an aluminum boat, and somehow he missed it with the lower unit. Lucky sucker.

Thanks Buda! SeaA...just curious why you said "luckily he was in an aluminum boat". Because that's what I have

Put in at Popes, Oak Ridge or Minnow Bucket. I hate public ramps .....all those marinas have easy access to boat lanes and good spots close by. Do not follow anyone off the marked lanes if you do not know them and/or they do not know lake well. Many out of towners running dangerous water right now WOT since the lake is up and stumps are hidden.

Oak Ridge is perfect spot for a first time out there and there can run to Caney or fish that area pretty easy.
