I have had people tell me that the fluoro kinks and loops up real bad and doesn't stay straight. I was considering trying some but now not sure. Is this a big issue or should I keep mono? I was planning on using it for worms and jigs. My rods have the micro eyes and I was looking at 12 lb line. They also mentioned line conditioner? What the heck is that? I am not sure that I want to use a string that I have to pamper to keep it from kinking up. Thanks

It is more difficult to manage and more so when not spooled tightly. But the less stretch and better feel is worth the additional work IMO

Fluoro sucks! If I wanted less stretch I would use a rigid stick instead of a fishing pole. It's only good if your fishing super clear water and even then I hate to use it. Waste of $

I have become a big believer in fluoro over the last couple years, but if you dont wanna commit all the way then try some of that P-line flouroclear. Copolymer gets looked over a lot I think. I have gone to all fluoro for bottom baits but still use copoly for moving baits

I just tried it. Was a little more sensitive but not enough to be worth it to me. I used line conditioner but still had too much coiling. I couldn't keep it from backlash inch so took it off. Went back to p-line and all the issues were solved. I know people like it but it wasn't for me

I think it's terrific that we have so many choices. Back in the day, it was mono or mono...period. Just find a line that works for you with your way of fishing and stick with it.

I use fluorocarbon 95% of the time and braid the other 5%. 20 lb fluoro, even from the big brands, is certainly more temperamental, but it's also the diameter of a 14 or 15 lb mono. 14 lb and less fluoro is plenty easy to use, you shouldn't have any trouble with that 12 lb.

I use 15 lb Seaguar fluoro on most of my rods. I caught a 6.15 lb bass at Fork under a dock with it a few weeks ago over spring break. Had I been using braid or other mono, I probably would have lost the fish as it hit in between two 4x4 wood pillars and immediately swam around one trying to get away. It was completely wrapped and thrashing at the surface. Braid would have frayed and broke instantly. Mono would have frayed and broken as well I believe. After that experience, I will keep spooling 15 and 20 lb fluoro on all my rods.

95% fluoro, 4% braid, 1% mono. The 1% is for a handful of topwater baits and the occasional Carolina rig leader. I'll gladly pay more for abrasion resistance and sensitivity. Its night and day compared to mono.

Flouro is like a beautiful woman, she needs special care and attention, but it's all worth it.

It must be a burden to go thru life wondering about little decisions that may have improved your fishing. Be a big spender and buy a spool of Fluro and give it a try. Dan

LOTS of misinformation about fluorocarbon float around the TFF. It has it's place, but unless you are cashing checks and can afford to replace your line often, it's a waste of money. If you are just fishing for fun, why bother with it. It's just too fickle. If you are tournament fishing and hoping to cash checks, better learn how/when to use it. It's not good for all situations, but definitely has it's place.
But, at the end of the day, it's your money. Buy some quality line. Give it a try. You may like it.
