My Yak. Thought I'd share. Bought it used and with the seat only. I modded everything for it including the trolling motor. I use a Pulse Width Modulator (PWM) to run the TM with a speed dial instead of the standard 5 speed settings. Saves on battery. I rigged my own spider rigging set up and rod rack from PVC. Love this stable yak as a starter.

Question:
I noticed on the front hatch you have a handle installed.
What kind of handle is it?

I have an FS128T as well, and the front & back hatches don't have any way to pull open and they can be a pain to unscrew alone.
I'm sure you know that already, thus is why you installed that handle.

I was thinking of just installing some anchor line cleats and use those as handles.

Thanks Rhino!

I bought those handles from Home Depot in the furniture parts section for about a buck a piece and they are painted metal and I used stainless screws and drilled through the hatch and sealed with Goop. I use it just to turn and pull that darn sticky thing off...which you and everyone else already know...LOL
The anchor line cleats will work too. I didn't think of using them. Both give you leverage and that's all it's for anyways. I wouldn't tie it up using the handles as that hard plastic hatch lid would shatter on a good tug.
On another note I made the spider rig interchangeable. I did not glue it and I can raise and lower the angle of the rods and change out for another rig I have with only 2 rods for more spread. Easy to change and pull off as needed and of course weighs next to nothing. Also added padding to floor to dampen sound when fishing shallow. Pads from Harbor Freight work great.
And of course it's a "motorized" vehicle and I had to register and put on nav LED lights. I added all around green LED lights as well for night fishing and installed switches to handle it all.
Have fun with the handles...they are perfect!

Kickingback great mods! I bought a used Ascend FS128T back in late October and have been working on modifications. Right now all of the hatches are off for a thorough reseal. I was looking at adding handles to the bow and stern hatches, but I really like the anchor cleat idea. I used a dremel tool and made grooves on the inner slick part of the hatch cover so they were easier to grip and pull off. I'm in the process of adding cockpit lights and am anxious to finish it up and get it out on the water! I'll post pictures when finished. Do you have any more picks of your trolling motor setup? How do you stear it?

I'd rather be fishing...

Thanks. I use the foot pedals to steer. I removed the small lock clips and saved for use later if I remove the TM. Here are a few pics of what I did on the TM and cockpit lights as well as pics of some of the mods I did. I made my own net and transport wheels out of PVC and used single one LED light "tabs" for the cockpit lights. Academy had them on sale for .99 cents each. Put some inside the hatches as well.
The TM has two lines for the steering and two lines to pull the motor up to clear shallow areas and one to unlock the TM to stow it in the up position.
In case you are wondering about the hatch and seeing the lock and unlock symbols better I used a silver marker and highlighted the raised images to see better.
If you have any specific questions just ask.
