Ray Roberts Lake Report

David and wife, from Kentucky, were in Ft. Worth on a business trip together. David had planned a bass fishing trip with me for Wednesday. All the weather people and Chicken Little said the sky would be falling most of the day Wednesday. Well, we went fishing. Rained a bit just after daybreak. Thundered one time. Otherwise, great day on the lake.

We didn't go north due to the bad forecast for the day. Stayed on main lake. Didn't catch any monsters. We caught fish and missed fish most of the day. We caught dinks and chunks up to 4.5 pounds. David had a couple of big ones on and lost them at the boat. The Corp has the gates open so we backed off the bank to the outside weed lines and timber. Water temps were 58-63. We threw lots of baits. Best baits were large swim baits.

I love fishing these cloudy cool days, especially when the bass cooperate somewhat. We only saw one other boat on the lake. You don't have to catch a giant to have a good time. Just getting out, up in the coves and creeks. Watching all the different birds; herons, loons, pelicans, geese and ducks, just to name a few. Lots of nature to enjoy.

I have a couple openings next week on Tuesday and Friday. Give me a call if you would like a trip.

I will be working in my shop this weekend. Be out next weekend. Too big of a circus with a big tournament like that out there. It's crazy to see guys run WOT in areas that I know to be dangerous. I'm just not that mad at the fish.

Especially with our navigating stumps just under the water! There will be some lower units shattered I'm sure. Just hope everyone is safe. That's the main thing. Safe and fun. I will be dodging them from my pontoon. I believe they came out in 3 waves last year. It was pretty cool for my customers to watch, but we had to put the brakes on a couple times to stay clear. They were hell bound for sure. I enjoyed watching them run north. We would watch the rooster tails disappear into Wolfe, Indian and Idle de Boise. Plan on doing the same this Saturday.

Yes, we caught several Kentucky's. We catch lots of them these days. It's fitting with a Kentucky customer. roflmao
