Kicked my brand new Curado and rod overboard on Grapevine several years back in a high wind in 15 ft. of water. Threw a marker buoy in the general vicinity, and fished it out 20 minutes later with a bell sinker and a big treble hook on a crankbait. Donated a few spinning combos to Ray Bob while crappie fishing. I imagine a big ol' blue cat looking up and grinning at me from down there.

Just two weeks ago I launched my new boat fishing by myself. I backed down to the water like I always do until the boat starts to float. Well this time, it started to float away. i couldn't jump in from the dock, but remembered my power pole remote in the truck. I quickly ran,( for an old fat guy) and got the remote and put the power poles down. This is the only time I ever wished for 20 ft power poles. Water temp was 50 degrees.
The 8' poles stopped the boat but there was no way to get to it and no one else on the lake.
This move gave me time to stop panicking, and checking the wind,I raised the poles enough to let the boat drift down the shore line about fifty yards. As it got closer to shore, I would raise the poles more until finally I just got wet up to my knees getting in the boat.
Now, while fishing alone, I have a rope tied to the boat from the trailer and my pole remote is around my neck.
Fellows,,,don't do this!

While fishing- a couple of pairs of costas
Headed to falcon (with my old small boat) rod strap came loose, and I lost 3 combos, all custom rods with new Revos. (Mile marker 98 on I-35) never did find those
Coming back from a tournament on falcon- my partner dropped me off at my office, I put all my rods in the bed of my truck, and headed to the gas station to fuel up. The gas pump asked me if I wanted a car wash, and since the truck was dirty, I bought one. I had to sit in line for about 10 minutes while the cars in front of me got washed, and I forgot about my rods in the bed, until the spinny car wash things grabbed them and started slamming them against the side of my truck. Evidently, it was a funny sight, me running around the truck trying to avoid being knocked out by a wildly spinning rod and reel, grabbing them, and trying to cut the 65# braid, because the couple in the car behind me was laughing hysterically. I bet they weren't laughing for long, because I left the broken ends of the rods all tied up in the spinny things. And I doubt that couple took them out before running their car through.
