Looking to protect my first alum boat which hopefully will give me years of good memories (ie, no problems). 2014 20' Xpress XP200 Catfish and since owning it, 4th week now, Ive been able to take it out dozen or so times. It seems like more than half of those times, I have found that I've had to beach it to let momma off, dock fisherman taking up all the spots to let off the trailer monkey, etc. I know that especially with alum, a keel guard would be probably a good investment but looking for feedback on which ones to consider/stay away from and difficulty in installing them.

As always, thanks for the input.

Adam

Most any of the keel guards are good products. The biggest problem is when it isn't prepped right before the install. Keelshield and Keelguard both are good and have an excellent warranty. Just be sure you get one designed for your hull and follow the instructions to the letter. Some folks are using Line-X spray on. They are claiming it lasts longer. I don't know anything about them myself.

The man I bought me trolling motor from has all his keels shot with the same stuff they line pickup beds with. He uses a shop in Temple. Looked real nice. I am going to get mine done soon with the same stuff. They can make it was wide or long as you like it.

My local shop uses Rino but any brand should work.

I saw a triton with one of those in temple, it did look really nice. Is it the line-x place behind texas boat world that does it? any idea on how much it cost, I would be interested in a quote.
