Want to go there and take grandson fishing, but is water clear enough and are folks catching any whites/hybrids?

There are quite a few people still catching whites in the 1-2lb range up the South Bosque river and Hogg Creek. The water is pretty muddy from runoff but it doesn't seem to matter. Most fish are being caught on live bait but also can be caught on small jigs, Roadrunner type baits on light line.
There are some hybrids in Lake Waco but they are probably scattered in deep water. You would need a good graph and lots of patience to try and find them.

Went to Waco on Saturday (3.26) with my father and ended up with about 60 between the 2 of us. All were caught on the old Hwy 6 roadbed in the middle of the lake between 11am and 3pm (when the wind died down a bit and the sun came out). The whites seemed to be moving up and down the roadbed so we stayed in one area and let them come to us. Really happy to see that only about 10 of the fish were 10-12 inches. All of the rest were 12-15 inches and very healthy males. We used 3/4 oz chartreuse, silver and pink slabs. but I am sure that Mepps would have worked well that day. We did not catch any hybrids but when the shad are schooling, the hybrids will be back in the area.

Hope this helps!

Thanks! That helps a lot. I fish that spot every time I go to L. Waco. How is water clarity?

Water Clarity - It is almost back to "normal" Waco clarity. Some may call it "stained" - but it is certainly not near as murky as it was right after the rains.
