I posted in catfish section but want to try here. I have been fishing in Texas for 50 years and have almost ALLWAYS carried a loaded shotgun in my boat for the occasional aggressive cottonmouth. I went to a Walmart today looking for a new boat gun and the sales guy in Walmart informed me it was against the law to carry in my boat. I highly doubt this is true or there are many violations during duck season. Is anyone her know the actual law on this?

Lots a boys got their aces capped pulling up within 200 yards of folks and they are trying to stop it. Most folks got used to the big slabs and 10 XDs all the bad boys were throwing at them for pulling up on the water they owned so a few fellas started pulling out the metal. Too many lives lost so they've outlawed guns in boats

If it's on the dropdown list it is a corps lake...

Never heard of anyone getting charged but it will be a federal offense.

I would bet that wouldn't pass muster of a Texas court system if someone were legally CHL or open carry. Not sure about a shotgun though and I imagine there'd have to be 30.07 signage at the ramp.
