I was digging through my fishing stuff and came across another fly rod. This one is a 2wt, 7' Okuma. So I went on-line and ordered a reel and line for it. I should have a ready to fish 2wt by this weekend. It will be perfect for the one hole that has nothing but bluegills and small bass. Wondering where that rod came from I went through the rest of my gear just to see what else might have appeared. Here's my inventory:

1 2wt
2 4wt, one of which is bamboo
2 6wt, one of which is bamboo
1 8wt, just in case I ever get to the coast

I still don't know where most of these rods came from - I suspect there is a fly fishing leprechaun that stores stuff in my closet when I'm not looking.

What's in your closet?

I share Pearow's approach. It's better not to know how many rods or reels you have, just in case you are interrogated when your guard is down. My big mistake was moving the rods out of the corner and into some fly rod tube racks. The racks look great, and give my collection the semblance of organization, but make it much easier for She Who Decides to do the math and come up with a total. Fortunately I have run out of space for rod tube racks and have reverted to dark corners and closets for storage. She's also afraid to enter the Tying Room for fear she'll be crushed by the accumulated fly fishing and tying debris and be unable to make it back out to safety.

All my wore out fishing junk is off the books and that is where it will stay.. I prefer not knowing exactly what I already have because knowing that little bit of information prevents me from buying new stuff just like the old stuff but better.. wink

My one really nice Browning fly rod I bought in 91', paid well over a $100.00 dollars for it.. of the dozen battle worn rods I have currently none were more then $60.00 and many were less than $40.00 .. I've caught fish on all of them.. same goes for fly tying..

I'm betting the over for a Coke

this discussion reminds me of a friend who had a LARGE number of guns. He lived in an old house, built about the turn of the century(1900) and he had guns stashed everywhere, under beds, in closets, in the attic, behind the curtains, in the kitchen cabinets. When we discussed guns, or a particular kind of gun, he had one, so we went on an easter egg hunt, until the particular gun was found. I asked him why he had them in such disarray and he said for two reasons; 1. so his wife wouldn't find out how many he had; 2. so robbers couldn't steal all his guns if they looted the place. He retired and moved to Kentucky and I often thought of trying to rent his old house just so I could search for guns; he had so many he probably missed some when he moved!!!-p-

4 wt Eagle Claw - for my son's use or so I tell my wife
5 wt BPS White River - out on indefinite loan
Another 20+/- bait casting and spinning rods

Does anyone have pictures to document for insurance purposes?
I have been meaning to but never get around to it.
