Heading out to Lake Granger today for some catfishing. Anyone got any tips?We don't have any good electronics but we do have a mediocre navigation unit. Are the catfish shallow or deep? What are the best baits to use? I heard punch bait is really good. Will bring back a report. Please PM. Thanks in advance. Drifting?

Only caught two blue cats. One was around 6lb and the other was 4lb. I was fishing with shad at lake points in 8-5 feet of water. Where are the catfish?

I've had horrible luck at Granger for years. That lake has made me wonder if I even know how to fish anymore. Wish I had a better update, but I don't unfortunately. I hear Inks Lake has a good catfish population, but I haven't been out there yet.
Give man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach man to fish, he'll sit on a boat and drink beer all day.

Granger has a great population of catfish. Tons of them. Fish shallow and you should do better.

Granger is my favorite lake and I go there a lot. I have had some good days but many more bad days. Im not vey good at pole fishing, just enjoy the time on the water. In the summer I fish off one side of the boat and my son swims on the other side so I am not very serious about it. Believe it or not I have caught quite a few fish doing that at the damn. Fresh shad is my favorite bait and the wife likes punch bait.

I've always had good luck with live perch.

+1 for the shad, cut or live. I use them on jugs if I put them out. Speaking of jugs on Granger, make sure you watch them, Ive had fish stolen from mine several times. They take my leader, hook and fish.

We limited on cats Sat. Myself and my daughter caught 25 a piece. Using Sure Shot punch bait. Sure Shot in the winter months and spring, CJ's Shad punch bait in the summer. Only time I use shad is on jug lines. If I set trotlines, I use cut perch or carp. I will also use live perch for my yellow cat lines. I had my jug lines run two week ago. If they want the fish that bad, oh well just ask. The jugs were just decoys to keep them from finding my real lines. I fished that lake so much, you learn tricks to out smart those people who run your lines.

Woops, I meant to say perch for the jugs. I use shad when I'm using a pole. I have the Sure Shot and CJ's on my boat. Guess I'll be giving that a try my next time out. Once again Yegua Cat, thanks for the tips!
