planning a trip to Corpus in may and looking for some advice.....we've been going to POC for several years and are looking for something new....we have a bay boat and have been advised to put in at marker 37 ramp....studying ariel maps and any resources we can find, not looking for any secret spots, just maybe some general instruction. looks like the west side of mustang island will be fishable as far north as we want to go. is this a big wading area? also like the mouth of oso bay on incoming tide....how shallow is the area south of CC bay if you get of the ICW? what will wind be like in mid may? we usually go later in the year.... thanks in advance

What boat are you running?

Inside the flats are going to range from 12" to 24" with an occasional deeper area in the 3' range.

From the Encinal Peninsula on southward there is a deeper area ranging 3-5'. There are some areas that are shallower. Study Google Earth and know where those areas are. Make a waypoint for shallow areas to avoid and mark them as danger.

good luck, and be careful.

Nauticstar bay boat, but we like to fish the shorelines sometimes depending on conditions....12-24 is scary but 3 is good....seems like there is an opening with some markers down the ICW to get to king ranch shoreline, seems safer than going from encinal penn....thanks for advice

Yes, that western side is deeper... but there are shallow areas over there so study it with google earth as good as you can before you go and make waypoints for the shallow areas to avoid.

Look on YouTube for the corpus fishing reports. They do a weekly report and they are very good for the whole bay system.
