My buddy has a fish and ski with duel consoles. Right between both consoles is a floor locker. It's broken and caves in pretty good when you step on it, which is hard not to do because it's right between the two consoles. I'm trying to help him find a good fix for it so we can do it ourselves.

Has anybody had luck repairing something like this before, that could give me some tips on an easy fix?

Mine did the same thing. I added Mahogany strips along the long sides to hold the lid in the correct position. Never looked at it again. Walked on it every day.

How many rods have you busted?

Cast, did you just screw those in from the inside of the locker up? Thanks for that tip. I may look into that.

I know pics would help. I will have the boat in a couple weeks and will try to take a pic then.

Thanks again.

Yeah, a good old buddy was working at the shipyard in the Ship Channel, he got the mahogany strips and SS screws and took a couple measurements. Hand me the screw gun, zoot zoot, done. The top hatch lays on the wood strips now, not the aluminum trim.

Then he noticed the captain's chair was loose. He dang near killed me that day working on the Bass Boat.

Is it the door that is bad or the floor supporting it? I was searching for a hatch online today to put in a deck extension and saw the hatch lids for fish and ski boats. Prices weren't too bad depending on the size

Right on, Cast. Thanks again.

Bobby, I believe it is the "catch" is what is bad. When you step on it, the door drops in a few inches. The latch or trip edging that is supposed to catch the door when it shuts and keep it flush with the rest of the boat bottom has failed.

I will look into what you are mentioning.

Thanks for the input.
