Would you choose a popper or walking bait for prespawn fish moving shallow? Water temp 64-68*

Try both and see what they prefer.

I'd be chunking a black and blue Sweet Beaver on that lake this time of year. But if you must use a top water of the two you questioned, I would use a walking bait. A bone shower Blow. Have you lived there very long?

Have you lived there very long? Been here since '08 and finally starting to do descent. I caught all my oconee fish on black / blue fighting frog. Sinclair is tough for me. I catch numbers but can't get the big ones. Goth 12lbs for 12th place 3 weeks ago so need to try something different

I've got a spot you can try for some big fish. I'll send you a pm. I fished Oconee and Sinclair alot. My biggest on Sinclair was 8-1/2 ... I'll show you where I got him. If you've been there that long I'm sure you have fished it before.

The Berry's trail has a side pot for any fish over 8#'s that carries over and can get pretty big, I just wish I had been fishing it that day.

Try both and see what they prefer. Best advice. Doesn't matter what I prefer. Let the fish tell you.

Neither... Throw a 3" Jitterbug. Really gets the big ones mad.

I'd throw a popper first. That's just because I have a lot of confidence in them.

Try a sub walker or wake bait.. prespawn fish do like to feed up in the water column when moving up to spawn, but for whatever reason don't like to bust the surface good until the frog hatch
I say we fish 5 days a week and work 2.

Pop R for dirtier water and spook/walk the dog type bait in clearer water for me going in blindly. I can make more noise and water disturbance with a Pop R. With a spook/walking the dog type bait I like to throw high in the air and let it crash in the water reeling in the slack in a hurry because that's when they'll typically crush it.
