So has anyone ever built a floating pier / dock on Fork? What are the rules? I was thinking about getting an old pontoon boat and stripping it down and making a floating dock. Any thoughts on this?
(and yes, I also posted this in the OT)

Well, what was the answer? That way we do't all have to call.

If you're thinking about a floating dock out here, make sure you're somewhere out of the wind.., Otherwise I'd go with wood posts. I've seen a couple of floating docks by big water that couldn't take the beating after a year or two. Just my $.02

He posted in the OT thread that he can't do it. I have heard that SRA doesn't want or permit floating docks as a rule...

I have only been to Fork a handful of times but I know Fisherman's cove has/had one when we were there. Seems like I remember others as well.

Floating piers are allowed but they have to be the encapsulated foam. They cannot be the blue barrels or old pontoon boats.

I caught a fish under my dock, but it wasn't floating. Paradise RV just put in a very large floating dock, using the ecapsulated foam, very nice!!!
