In the area for a family reunion, fished bob sandlin and Monticello last two days with little results. Not looking for specifics but just wanted to know how the fishing has been at welsh. Thanks for any help

I think if you want to go get some numbers you should consider going to Cypress Springs. It's right there.

If ya like fishin grass and hydrilla Welsh is loaded, frogs and punch the mats. Cypress for any style fishing, plus lots of docks.

Be very careful running, no marked lanes, i hardly run but when I do, it's wide open and trimmed way up!
Coming off plane is the scary part.

Do a search for Welsh and there have been some maps showing where you can safely run. Great little lake, most people go north into the flooded timber but don't forget about the south end. I've caught lots of 20# stringers south of the cooling fans.

Went last sunday. Small buck bass were everywhere on beds and easy to catch. Anything white just so we could see the bait. Not sure what happened but on the inlet end of the lake there is a nasty slim on the grass and didnt have any luck punching or anything for that matter around the slime. The wind was blowing 30 mph that day so we had to stay in any little cove and the bass are on the back side of the grass.

Fish on beds all over the North End.
