Caught 5-6 black males today on Willis Creek. Mostly on white jigs and a few on live bait. I am assuming the spawn is yet to happen. I didn't have high hopes with the north wind still rippin, but all-in-all a good time.

Thanks for the report. Were they shallow?

Yes, they were very shallow (1'+/-)and in the typical crappie spots of brush and slack water. I worked really hard at it for about 4 hours to find the few I caught, they are not here in strong numbers yet. Today through Wednesday should improve.

I have been having about the same luck with 2-4 fish caught per outing. jigs tipped with minnows under a float. Going back on Wednesday to give it another try.

You can find the females staged out on b/p's near spawning coves....

It's hit and miss shallow, but have been successful fishing b/p's for the last 2 or 3 weeks.

Only caught 2 shallow today and 16 on b/p's.

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.

Wind forecast for tomorrow looks brutal. I will have to stay off the main lake brush piles and hide in the creek!

The wind was brutal! Managed to land 6 keepers. Largest one shallow, rest on BP in 13' water. Pink and chartreuse worked for me.

I plan to head out to the lake tomorrow, if the wind is down. Don't want to go far in my boat (trolling motor only), so any suggestions on where to launch or fish?

How did you do? a little late, but if you launch from Taylor Park, there are two small coves on each side of boat ramp that you could fish shallow for spawning fish. Launch from Fox Park if you want to try some brush piles.
