I'm with ya. I think they need to do catch, weigh, release, CULL UP, and beat 5 wins it.

Leave the show alone.

I like the show, but I'd like to see them raise the minimum length to 16 inches. Anyone that fishes Conroe can tell you how much more appreciative you are to catch a limit when they have to be 16 inches.

All the guys play by the same rules and the winning strategy is no secret now. That makes it even more amazing when one guy can go out and destroy the competition like KVD did. They announce update after update and the pro will say "knowing KVD, he's fishing some moving bait" as that pro stubbornly keeps flipping a jig at tree stumps. Or they will do like Ish at Ray Roberts and quit.

The live updates are what make the show for me. If you make it a best 5 contest, the updates will be a lot less frequent and the show will be boring because the other pros won't feel the pressure.

Enjoyed it. The winner caught the most and the biggest bass (2.14). The six competitors caught over 120 fish and not one over 3lbs--I didn't see anyone fishing deep after the first period, but there were plenty of topwaters/frogs and jigs thrown; guess there just weren't any big ones biting shallow.

There are plenty of five fish format tournaments in TV, so why is this one so popular?

During the first period I was thinking "maybe he has lost it after all". Then WOW! Maybe not.

There are several reasons for its popularity....Great line-up, the unknown/blind surprise format, excellent on the water coverage and the real time updates are awesome. I just think the dink factor round after round gets a little old and that by giving them more incentive to go for quality as opposed to quantity it would open it up to a more interesting format. Heck you could come up with several different scenarios to make size more of a factor than what it is and you wouldn't have to do it every time either, they could mix it up a bit and throw another surprise at them once in a while. JMO.

that was a pretty nice day of minnesota fishin. low 70 temp an not much pleasure boat traffic, have many people here caught more fish than kvd did in that show?

Actually, Christie has a pretty average day for MN catchin about 20 fish and would have weighed maybe 11-12 for 5 fish.

The numbers are great but there are more 4-5 lb fish up here and that's all we didn't see in this show.

KVD got in that channel with the brown townhouses and riprap and just caught the hell out a 'em. The jerk bait was awsome and how old school is a purple jiggy worm?

I think the main reason most of the fish are small is because of the body of water they are fishing and not just because they are targeting numbers. Each angler had a different approach to begin with and nobody has caught a big fish in any of the pools on that river

Not only this, but on the MLF angles show, he was laughing that some of the contestants were not going to be able to fish one end of Pool 8 (I think it was), because some had a history on the south end, I think it was. I would like to know if that was on purpose that they closed the end that some knew well enough to have won a tournament on. Of course, we will never know as they would never openly discuss those things. If I have the wrong show/episode, I apologize in advance.
