Looking at a used boat with a 2015 250 Evinrude E-Tec. I am not familiar with Evinrudes and would appreciate comments on what y'all think about them

I have a 2013 Etec with around 300 hours. Very solid motor.
Before I purchased. I called numerous mechanics in the local area and in other states. Every mechanic said the Etec was a very good motor.
You should call your local mechanics and call mechanics out of your area.

Almost 3 years with my 150...trouble free, good torque, quiet, & fuel efficient.

Is there a shop that services them anywhere near you?

The old Etec Gen 1 after about 2011 is as good of a motor as their is. I do not know much about the new ETec / G2. I heard they had some computer program problems in the very beginning but they have those fixed now. I believe you will be ok on anything after 2011 on any of E-Tec's. good luck

I have had 2 since 2005. First was 225 HO ETEC ran over 800 documented hours before had a problem with oil system and dropped 2 cylinders. I was so impressed with power, quietness and fuel and oil use that I replaced it with 250 HO ETEC last year and I am more impressed with the power, quietness and fuel and oil usage. I had expected a dramatic increase in oil and fuel usage, so far just not happening. This is not the G2. I do have a reputable marine dealer that does all my maintenance it is Rockwall Marine.

I loved mine. One of the best motors I have owned. Still miss it.

I have a 2007 150 E-Tec. I wouldn't trade it for any other motor. It is by far the quietest motor (2 or 4 stroke) I've ever experienced. Just go listen to one.

I have an 09 E-tec 200 on my BassCat. I've only had it for 6 months but like everything about it so far. And I'll second the mention about quiet

I don't know what happened to my post on this but I'll write it again. I've got a 2013 e tec 250 and have had no issues with it whatsoever. It's quiet and fuel efeccient. Hole shot is great too. The only thing I've done differently on mine is replace the raker 2 prop with a tempest plus. I see the OP is in midland so if you have any questions then call Terry Rose at Outdoor Specialties in eastland.

Not an E-Tec, but my 1997 Evinrude Intruder has been bulletproof. One VRO pump about 5 years ago and just regular maintenance outside of that. My next boat will have an evinrude on it.

I have over 350 hours on my Etec without any troubles (2014 250 HO). I would buy another one in a second. This is my first Evinrude (always had Mercury). My next motor will be the Evinrude G2.
