What is the better preference in adding a hook keeper to rod? at the handle between split grip? above reel nut to the side of rod? Thanks for the feedback!

I like mine at least 2" above the reel nut. Just enough room that you don't touch it while palming the reel.

I like it forward of the reel seat on the bottom of the rod. I have never understood why some are on the left side of the rod forward of the reel seat since most people use a right hand reel. When you set your rod down on deck, with the reel handle pointed up the lure will be on bottom under the rod. NOT GOOD.

On the bottom between the split grip would be my second choice.

I want it on top of the rod. I boot up my reels for traveling. This allows the reel to hold the boot off the lure. My boots cover the rod handle, reel and the lure attached to the hook keeper about two inches up the rod.

I like an open-ended keeper at the top of the rod so I can slide a plastics hook through the bend in the hook without having to take the hook point out of the plastic to secure. I have a Shimano rod that has the keeper under the bottom of the rod forward right in front of the reel. Don't like it.

On blank between split grip. If it's above the line gets caught on it when your popping a bait loose or hooks get embedded in rod straps.

My preference is the Fuji EZ Keeper. This thing lets you put it wherever you want it. And when you don't want it...remove it.

Check out the hook keeper on the Lews pro magnesium. Hands down my favorite hook keeper. I don't mind it on the rod but sometimes my line gets caught up in it.

Anywhere but the side of the rod--can get snaggy with braid on a windy day.

I like it above the reel with the exception being a dropshot rod, I then prefer it between the split grip with the type that actually holds the shot.
