I picked up the Wacky Rig spin rod at Academy and fondled it for a few minutes. I didn't pickup another rod in the store with the same tip action, light weight and balance. I really tried to like the Blackout from No. 8 Tackle as well, but it just didn't move my needle for the price difference. Should I bite the bullet and pay $120 or is there something around $50-80 that offers similar quality?

I doubt you'll find anything for $50 unless it's used....

The only thing I use a spinning rod for is beating snakes away from boat.

I used to feel the same way until......a buddy consistently caught more fish than everyone else and I asked him what he was doing. He said he downsized his lures and line and fished spinning tackle. I converted 15 years ago and it is worth having at least one in the boat for the bluebird tough bite days.

You can't go wrong with a Mojo Bass Rod or any St. Croix Rod!
