I've been trying to pick out a drop shot rod lately and I can't decide. I'll just throw out the ones that I've been looking at. No. 8 tackle Hellbent inshore 7' 1 ML , Limit Creek Smoothie, abu garcia ike finesse, Fenwick Elite tech small mouth bass (if they still made that specific one), and then if I decided to spend more than planned TFO GTS drop shot.

KInda depends on the CB rod. Are you looking for an all around CB rod, or something for squarebills or traps or what? Best all around CB rod I owned was a 7' MH St. Croix Avid but that might be a little pricey. You could go with the Mojo and probably be pretty close, or a Premier. American made rods and good quality for he price. I am using an XH 7'6" Ethos rod for my backup now. Works great for everything except trap style baits. It costs $49 on sale, though, so you could buy 2 of them, if you want too. I have a 7'H rod and it is still light compared to the major manufactures. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

For a reasonably priced CB rod, I suggest the Academy Ethos 7'6" H or XH rod. It is an all around rod that handles most CBs fairly well. Don't be mislead by the H or XH designation, it has a LOT of tip and a lot of backbone. Good all purpose cranking rod, includes the big boys, but it is not rated for them and they do over match it, if throwing them for more than 20-30 minutes. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have a Duckett Ghost and Lews Lightning stick for my cranking rods. I like them both. I like the Ghost the best. I put a Shimano Caenan on it and turned off all but 2 brakes. It throws a mile! I love that set up. Rod and reel both were less than $200.
