I'm having a hard time deciding between 3 yaks for my first ride. I've been looking at the Pescador Pro 120, Shadow Caster, and the Sea Ghost 130. I want the ability to add a fish finder later and it must have a raised seat. Other than that, I would sacrifice stability for speed as I only weigh 165#. Your input is much appreciated.

Jason you have picked out 3 great kayaks to choose from. I have the pescadore pro 100 if you want to try it out at the next working mans. At 55lbs it's probably one of the best light kayaks for the price in my opinion. The shadow caster is a good buy, and I think it's the heaviest out of the bunch. Remember it has no pod or wheel like the Feel Free's. If you are car topping, this would be the last on the list. The new Sea Ghost 130 is a heck of a buy. Comes packed with everything you will need. Only downside is it is basically sold out for the next few months.

Do you get hooks stuck in the front bungee on your pescador pro?

If you'll consider used, you can choose just about any non-pedal yak for less than $1000, which will almost always come with lots of extras.

no, only because I know it will always get stuck at the most inconvenient time. So I always use a crate and hold my rods in there.

At your weight u definately have a lot of options.

U could also... Spend your $ on a comfy vest & a nice paddle (Important)
Post your remaining $ on here.
Something like: "I have $650-$800 cash for your nice used angler kayak.
Let me know what youve got. U keep your vest/paddle I have my own"
Caution: used yaks r as is so test paddle before u buy. Look the bottom over well and make sure Its not cracked/leaking.
Take a friend who knows what to look for. If it feels wrong trust your gut. I recommend a 240 paddle.

Or, call Mariner Sails of Dallas. They have good deals all the time and the best staff. If they dont know. They will find out for u!
Ask them about their demos too and set up a test drive ;-) tell em zombie sent Cha. You may want to layaway a nice new yak with em. Mariners yaks come with warranties. Best of luck to ya cheers

I am happy to meet you for a santa cruz raptor demo. They are new right in that price range and used they are less. Stable and faster than most other stable kayaks. New they are $1050.

Doesn't look like the Raptor has a transducer scupper or high seat, so I'm out on it.

I am kind of in the same boat you are Jason, pun intended. I've been looking at sea ghost and pescador for a while and decided I'd wait it out for a sea ghost. I'm on a waiting list and mid May is the earliest id be able to get one at best. Not sure how you feel about the heritage brand from academy, but they have a new heritage osprey 12'9" that has a raised seat that swivels 360 degrees and I think it comes transducer ready. It's looks pretty stable at 36" wide, but weighs a ton, around 90 lbs. also comes with grear tracks around the kayak. ~$750. Good luck with your first ride.

The Feelfree lure is an awesome yak. I think the 11.5' is $1100. It has probably the best seat out there as far as height and feel, IMO. Also it's super stable has a removable pod for your FF and a wheel in the keel. They make a slew of accessories for them and have superb customer service. I wouldn't count them out on any account. Check them out at mariner sails, the thought put into the design is incredible. Mariner will have them and the pescador available for demo. At the demo days on April 30th as well as by appointment.
