I have a bass boat that I am wanting to get rid of to make way for my next one, but I would spend more getting it ready to sell than I could probably get for it. Does anyone know if it is possible to donate to a high school fishing team or something of that sort for a tax write off as a charitable donation? I'm thinking the team can put the time it needs into it and come out with a solid bass boat.

I am not sure about HS, but i know College teams are usually already set up as 501(c) and should be able to issue you a receipt for your donation.

College team would be the way to go. I know personally I could use a boat. I'm stuck having to find a boat to use for each tournament and it is definitely not easy to do. I'm looking at trying to get one now to have to avoid doing that in the future, but can't financially cover it right now. Collegiate fishing is not easy, and in ways more difficult than just regular tournament fishing and most people would agree. Hope this boat goes to someone very deserving, and puts it to good use!!!

I'd say if your not a person who needs the money and can buy a boat without having to recoup from the old one. I'd say donate it to a kid who needs one. You'll be remembered forever and the satisfaction keeping this sport going would be much more rewarding to to me. I help out neighborhood kids all the time. I've left clothes for some at there door step in the middle of the night. It makes me feel good when I see them where them to school.

Just sent a message about a non profit I work with that works with at risk kids. we are trying to start a high school bass fishing team but are in need of boats. We can also give you a tax right off for the donation through our non profit. Thanks
