I really don't see an issue with it. It appears to me that it will help sustain good fish population.

Good regulations! I also like R. Ott's regs for Lake Palestine, dropping the minimum length limit altogether. In regards to deep hooked or foul hooked fish, if they don't meet the limits, you turn them back into the lake. They might die, but I have never seen one recover from a frying pan!

Ya'll do realize I whizz in that water right ? This catfish guide whizz in the water... watch the sides of his boat for evidence of a different kind of slime, his own whizz! Geezz whizz!
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

A bit too complex if you ask me, but I'm OK with the new reg's.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

They must like measuring catfish a lot more than most game wardens I have met. Most of time it the conversation goes something like this...
GW - Do you have any fish? me - Yes, I have a couple catfish. Would you like to see them. GW - No, not necessary...you have good day.
Granted, I don't look like the typical violater. I always have my stuff ready before they get to the boat. Their job is to find violations, so I don't blame them for moving on quickly. One game warden told me that almost every ticket he writes for undersized/over the limit started with a ticket for not having safety equipment or a fishing license.
I am in favor of the regulations. I just hope they enforce them.

Well, we the wardens have been on the lake 2 weeks in a row on Twok! My customers were checked last week and again this week. I saw the wardens checking at least 15 boats today. Probably more. They said they will be out in the lake each week. Good stuff.

Game Wardens would make the state a fortune if they just concentrated on East Texas. Ain't nobody from east Texas ever fished or hunted legal. License? What's that for? 9 out of 10 pickup trucks in East Texas has a spotlight laying in the floor. Telephones, gill nets and dynamite are just normal fishing gear. Just kidding

Why didn't they just put a slot limit on the catfish like Lewisville has the30-45limit and leave the only 7 20 inch or larger like it was because those are the better eaters I don't understand it

Guys ... It's not a problem ..... Want to keep 25 of those monster fish loaded with heavy metals and pesticides ? Call 12 of your buddies, load up , and go fish ........
lol, heavy metals and pesticides? Coincidentally, most seafood are loaded with heavy metals, but they fetch big $, and in high demand... Catfish steaks are not as pricey but from what I saw it is at par with the price of ribeye steak... For whatever reason, people eat them, and apparently like them... Personally, I prefer 8 to 15 lb catfish, and only from Twok, because fish in that lake get fat very fast... Get your friends and head to Twok to catch those big blues, please. Seriously, for years with 25 fish bag limit, you can't put a dent on blue catfish population in that lake,... Jugs, trotlines, and setlines are the best ways to harvest them, just set them out and go enjoy some crappie or striped bass fishing while you're on the lake.
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

People will continue to harvest big blue catfish in Twok because frankly besides undermanned, GW work routines are very predictable, they won't stop those who bent on breaking the laws. For example, for more than 10 years of fishing at TAWAKONI, only once I saw GW worked pass 9pm and they were at Holiday Marina, wrong place. During daylight, they only showed to check on weekend crowds boats or bank, or recently at the spillway, again wrong places and wrong timing. I ain't telling, because the way I see it, when it come to blue catfish management regulations they are terribly bias toward a very small but loud segment of catfish anglers, mainly guides and so called "trophy" catfish boaters. If it ain't hurting the catfish population, why would I wast my time and possibly my tax dollars calling GW that serve only the special group interests?

Sure glad I can still catch and take home the best eating cats. 12" long and fried whole with the crunchy tail still on it. Like eating an ear of sweet corn. Nuttin but the bone left and reach for another one.

What I appreciated about the way KEVIN and tha' crew at TPW handled the catfish management plan was when first brought to their attention they were willing to listen...but didn't move. At least not at first. Then, when they decided it was time, they conducted their own study, consulted the public...and consulted other states who have had long productive catfish management plans.
Then, after looking at it all...the information pointed to a slightly different plan that what even they thought originally.
Nonetheless, here we are. Let's roll with it.
There will always be complainers and whiners and professional lectures made to contradict what is done. Whatever!
