I fished the Trinity bay last year the weekend after the memorial day flooding and tasted the water about halfway through the day, and found it was completely muddy freshwater. All the water from the rains from OKC to Houston was still being discharged into the bay from the Trinity River. Needless to say I ended up with nothing but one solid tug and a close call with a gator.
The Brazos (which I live by) is almost at the level it was last year so I assume the Trinity bay is too fresh to fish. Where would I go right now to avoid those conditions? I assume somewhere where a major river doesnt drain like The Trinity Bay or Chocolate bay. How would GISP or SLP be? Maybe Rollover on an incoming tide? Thanks!

Yes, all three of those locations if you are shore bound should be good areas right now. I'm guessing you are shore bound?

You can launch at the Koa campground on the west side of San Luis pass and fish that area west to colds pass. Lots of yak traffic. Google Earth will show you where to go.

Lots of yakkers fish Lake Fayette if you are into bass fishing. Easy access and great fishing.

Actually just got a new kayak and am gonna take it out for the first time when I go! Ok, with the yak, Don't fish the swift currents. Fish near those areas but do not get into any swift currents until after you have some navigation time on the yak and a really good life jacket. The cove near rollover to the east of it, the spoils, and in east bay near it. Same for San luis pass and Colds pass... fish near it and where water flows into it, but not in swift water of the pass itself. Each spring / year several people loose their lives at the passes. Don't be that guy.

I looked at what you said and also have been hearing that the lakes are doing good right now, so was wondering if I should fish any of the lakes in West Bay. I still want to avoid Choclate since I believe Oyster Creek drains into it, but do you think I'd have any luck over on the west end? If not have you heard anything coming out of GISP lately? Thanks!

Oyster Creek does not run anywhere close to Chocolate. It gets a steady runoff if we get a lot of rain though. Chocolate is getting clearer by the day.
