Guys,
I was getting the oil alarm beeps (4 beeps every 2 min). I've replaced the sensor and then the whole resivour. I have purged the system and I am still getting the alarm. What else is there?

4 beeps every two minutes could also be water in fuel.

TWO types of warnings are used on recent production engines:

SOLID TONE: Critical Warning (SHUT ENGINE DOWN, serious problem present)

FOUR BEEPS: Non-Critical Warning (Proceed to port, get engine to dealer for service as soon as SAFELY possible).

Yeah, I've got both. I get the 4 beep warning followed by the continuous alarm. All the dealers I talk to say that they can't get to my boat for at least a month. The dealers just want me to leave the boat there and will not give me any suggestions so that I can fix it myself. So I'm trying here.

Call Joe Mauldin @ Town & Country Marine. If he can't get to it he will probably give you some ideas. He's in Longview/Hallsville area. Great mechanic, only works on Mercury's though.

Thanks Jimmy for the help. I finally figured it out about an hour ago. I had a voltage issue with my cranking battery. The Mercury owners manual never said that it could give that alarm for lack of voltage. I'm just glad I got it figured out.

My neighbor is a retired boat mechanic and he preaches to me all the time about keeping a good high CCA cranking battery. A lot of electronic failures can be caused by a bad battery and low voltage.

for future reference, Joe Mauldin has also given people dates to bring it to him so you don't have to leave it outside for weeks at a time.
