A friend of ours has been fishing for crappie on Whitney and says he has found a " secret spot " , but want tell us where it is. He claims you can limit out in around 40 minutes every day. All he will say is that you have to pay $5.00 to fish there and it has a couple of boat slips in it. The only clue he gave us is that you have to walk down 70 steps to get to it. Just for the life of me I can not think of any place like that. As he lives in Rio Vista he called another friend of ours the other day and said he was on his way. He told him he was in downtown Whitney , headed to his secret spot. So it seems he had to be going to the south side of the lake. Anyone have a clue ? He did say that the game warden was waiting were he parked last week.

Could it be Little Rocky Lodge? I used to camp there as a kid and I remember walking down a lot of steps to get to the fishing barge. It also had boat slips. I also remember them launching my family's boat with a tractor because the boat ramp was so steep and curvy, so they insisted on launching your boat for you.

First off there are lots of secret spots on Whitney...just ask him if he will take you along next time he is going, if he is a friend...he was probably trying to invite you, anyway...

I have only fished Whitney a few times , one time , I never even got out of the
creek I launched in , Schooling stripers everywhere. ( Many moons ago)

I've never crappie fished there, but would like to.

DaveDave-- I have too much invested in Lake Palestine to go chasing around the state. smile

My Dad always told me , It is hard enough to learn one lake , don't go chasing fishing
reports. smile

good luck

Mo

Come on Mo. I fished your lake last weekend. I hadn't fished it in years since I lived in Tyler. It's still a Great Lake.

Your Dad is a very smart man, if folks would slow down & learn the lake near them they would learn what it takes to put fish in their boats.....
I totally agree with him....

I had a secret spot on Whitney several years ago. It was holding crappie in 3ft of water. The lake level at the time had alot to do with it.

He is from Rio Vista....so I would think the spot would be on the north end of the lake. When I heard the description my first thought was:
redwood
