Lets see em. Haven't gone out yet this year yet. Probably start hitting the trails now that it's warming up a bit. '09 Trek Gary Fischer Xcalibur

My BMX and my mountain bike were toasted years ago. I am borrowing my buddies Jeep Brand mountain bike(probably 15 years old). I pump the carp out of it, no lolly jolly trips, all gears down and going fast as I can. I am dreaming of a street racing bike, but even the low end one is $640. Up to $10K +. LOL! I just signed up for a Sprint Triathlon next month. I will be the guy peddling the mountain bike, while everyone else zips down the road low profile!

I get a kick out of some of the costumes the bikers wear.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”

I'm looking for a 29er. Saw a few at Sun & Ski I liked. Is there a big bike outlet somewhere in the DFW area?

My 2013 Kona Mahuna hard tail 29er. Got her from Bluebonnet bicycles in Lewisville. I can strongly recommend the bicycle as well as the shop. They've been great in helping me with service after the sale too!

Nice rides Brian.
Those street bikes fly compared to the knobby tired bikes. I can't keep up with those street bikes for more than a mile.
But they can't jump off or over curbs or do any sweet jumps at all.

Thanks, I really dig yours. I wouldn't recommend a Haro after having this one. I got it in about 2007 and I don't know if it's the shop that put it together or what, but since about the 1st week I've had it, something has come loose or not worked on it. I got it hear localy, and everyone I know who has one has the same problems.
I'm thinking about just doing away with two of the three front sprockets, and just being able to shift the rear. As far a s speed, I'm probably the most out of shape rider out there, and it's insane the difference in speed and distance you can "comfortably" cover on a road bike versus mountain.

I am looking for a used street racing bike if anyone knows of any? I can't afford too much. Aluminum frame is fine. Size 54, maybe 56. Thanks!

I have a Specialized Sirrus. It's a hybrid street with straight handlebars. Very similar to LM's single speed.

1999 Specialized Rockhopper. Last year they made it in Chrompoly steel. All components have been upgraded except front fork, hubs and wheels. 2015 Specialized Allez. Put Shimano clips on it recently.

My bikes... 80s Specialized road bike, bought from by brother-in-law at his garage sale...$40? 2001 Haro Vector V1, still have it, old-school hardtail mountain bike... 2009 Specialized Hardrock, my first 29er, gray with blue "tape" stripes. I sold it a few months ago... 2014 Specialized Jett Comp 29er, bought brand new in November of 2015. It was brand new, but had been in the store a long time...good discount! First photo is with my first handlebars that were white, but I painted them striped. The remaining photos are newer, just last week before the rain, with slightly taller handlebars, taped up striped. I like the striped look. Go ride, if you can find a place off road... ...------

In total, I have 3 bikes, but really only need 2. I cannot get myself to get rid of my first mountain bike, the blue Haro. I rarely ride it, but it's like selling my first guitar...which hurt a lot!

2014 Cannondale CAAD 10, with 105 Shimano gear shifter, Cobb seat. My new baby all the way from South Louisiana. Block from the shrimp dock! This was a picture from Sunday morning after the Triathlon. Such a fun morning!! Don't tell anyone, but I also bought some riding shorts (tight kind with pad), gloves and even got a zip up shirt to go with it. No wind flapping slowing me down!! Everyone thinks they are just the style for riders....but you get a chapped butt and you too will be buying a pair and adding some butt paste!!

I prefer dirt bike trails over cement trails and definitely prefer them to riding street.
With this constant rain, and Dorba keeping all trails closed, dirt riders won't be riding until July or even August.

...------ Agreed. Last year I was going on the mountain bike kick a few times a week and having a blast but with the rain, it's hard to find a good place to ride. I hear Rowlett Creek is open some, but still messed up from the floods. Any suggestions on where to ride? I have been using the City of Plano trails around Bob Woodruff and managing to get in 10miles or so on an after work ride on the 29 but would like a change of pace.

When the trails are all wet, and Dorba closes them, I did discover a secret area to ride, but dirt and white chalk rock. Both are fun, and I usually do them a couple days after the rain stops. There is no authority to tell you that riding isn't allowed. If you get muddy, it's on you, but at least you can ride. I'll message you if interested.

Our local trails frown upon people who go out in the mud....I guess it tears up and ruts up the trail.
They beg people don't go on the FB pages.

I am in need of a decent bike for triathalons.
Any suggestions?
I am wanting to get a pretty good bike, but I don't want to break the bank on a $2000 dollar bike.

Giant Defy 5 is the cheapest new bike made. I was quoted $640 for it.
Next would be the Trek 1.1

get a used one from craiglist or "pedals, bikes and junk" page on facebook or a motobecane from bikes direct, which is the best way for a new bike that has all the good parts on it. keep an eye out for a diamondback Haanjo Trail. its a very good bike with capability to run gravel tires, not very heavy.

For whoever is looking for riding groups - road/paths check out meetup dot com just search on cycling, etc. The plano club has Sat morning rides for novices - slower speed, 15 to 17 mile distance. Performance bike and other bikes shops have rides also. Performance has novice rides.

You can check prices online...there is a Blue Book for Bikes and it's pretty helpful when dealing with "stock" bikes...components can drive up price.

Yeah there's a ton of really nice bikes on craigslist in that price range. I've been on the prowl for a nicer road bike, but everyone wants cash and I've just got too many toys to buy another.

Bike riders, street riders, that is, believe they are equal to a car, and have the same rights. Actually, they do, but for me, common sense tells me to "not" push my luck and ride on busy streets. There are way too many distractions for drivers as it is, and I don't plan on being one of them. Bikers will never go away, they will increase. I am one of them, but I choose to ride dirt trails 95% of the time. The other 5%, I street ride but in huge parking lots or around the driveways of community colleges, and I do that on weekends when almost nobody is even driving cars in those areas.
As to the previous question, keep your hand out of the donut bag until you get home. The bike riders are going anywhere except down the street to the next one.

I don't know why people get in such a hurry....how long does it take to pass a bike rider?
The reason people ride roads are, there are not trails that are 30, 50, 75, 100+ miles long where you can go 20+mph. Most city trails are not wide enough for the bike, a runner, family with dogs on leashes...ect.
Our city trail is only 2.75 miles long. LOL! So many bike riders wreck trying to avoid the families that don't understand walk on the right side.

I don't know why people get in such a hurry....how long does it take to pass a bike rider? I take the time to move over and pass a bike...when I get to the light they pass me while I'm stopped and make me pass them again. Most the time I'm boxed in from the rolling traffic jam they cause exercising on 40 mph public roads. Get a stationary bike if you want to ride 20-30 miles.

First off - go troll in another sub forum....the democrats are waiting on you. 20-30 miles, lol....that is just getting started, hardly breaking a sweat at 20 miles. You see, most people on their day off want 50, 75, 100, 150 mile trips...and if they are going average of 25 mph in a 40 mph, it should be fairly simple to pass them. So with your theory, they should pull over until all traffic and you are clear on down the road until they continue their day? So, with that being said what do you suggest? Bikes follow the laws like cars do....they stop at lights, ect. Don't forget you too will be driving like a gray hair granny one day too....we will be cussing at you too. AS a starch republican you should be glad people work out and stay healthy...they are the ones keeping insurance rates normal.

I did about 8-9 miles at Erwin Park in McKinney this morning. Some buddies suggested it, we rode, it was hot, lots of roots and tree gates, and some steep declines...it was fun!
Get on the trails and ride, and watch for snakes.

Well finally got the Carbon Fiber upgrade. Guy went over the handlebars three years ago, broke his arm and hasn't been on it since. I need to do alittle bit of work to get it back into riding shape, new bar tape and some oil here and there and we'll be in business. 2012 Felt F6, it came with some entry level Sram components, but he'd upgraded them to Sram Force so it's alittle better than factory. Have to get used to these new shifters, little different than my down tubers. Just changed out the seat for a super comfy Fizik, and got a pair of Bontrager carbon fiber bottle cages. Looking sharp now. New picture was due.

Thanks, it's pretty much brand new minus the bar tape, and a very small spot of road rash on the the tops of the levers. Last night I cleaned it up and went totally over it and there's not any scratches or anything on it. I think when he crashed it, he just parked it and said screw it. Only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did is the computer, I didn't ask about it, I figure it came off when he crashed and whoever picked him up didn't get it. It's got all the Garmin sensors on the pedal/chain stay/spoke for something real nice.
Before I was riding a old school steel frame Bridgestone bike, it's the white one several post up in front of the mountains. It's a freaking sled compared to this thing lol.

Wow. What an upgrade! When I was younger I rode a Peugeot bike from the 70's that had the down tube shifters. It was a fun bike to ride, but nothing compared to today's bikes.
Did he have a bad break? I broke my left forearm when I was in 7th grade. 7 surgeries, a bone graft, a nerve graft, and countless hours of occupational therapy saved my arm. It stopped me from riding until this past year (24 years old now.)

I don't know if it was that bad, but his wife said it happened when they first met and it was a definite test.

I ride a Trek 3700. Managed 1000 miles last year, and I'm on a pace to do it again this year.

I ride a Trek 3700. Managed 1000 miles last year, and I'm on a pace to do it again this year. im back riding with my twelve year old son, were pacing about the same distance, this year. I dont think he (nor I) could make the 10 to 12,000 miles i rode per year in my racing days. 20 miles before school, 30 miles after school, 100 to 150 miles on a non race saturday, 20 miles of spinning on a non race sunday. it was fun to be young.

I got issues. Wind isn't right to bow hunt tomorrow...do I go with the wind wrong or sign up for a 100K Tour De Fire Ant in Marshall tomorrow? Well, my biker buddy talked me into it. Signed up at 5pm today for a ride tomorrow. Weather is perfect..79 at noon!! I've been wanting to ride this route by my favorite fishing lake. This should be fun!

I'm working on selling my entry level Giant Defy 5, size Large,(if any one is interested) but when I do, this is what I am thinking about upgrading to. I was given a set of Rol Racer-SLR wheels for pet sitting for about a combined 2 months, so I will swap those over to my new bike if I get one. Giant TCR Advanced 2

Crazy what they can do now. Tour de France they do an inspection to make sure those guys don't have motors mounted in the frames.

I want one for those days I want to ride to work and don't want to get sweaty. Or for a BIG hill I just can't get over without getting off to walk. etc. Not too bad for less then $1000. They are coming out with a belt drive on it in Jan. Will be a little more $$ but not much.

I would say a LOT more $$. OUCH. I really like the fat tire design. But think if you rode mainly on the street the added weight and rolling resistance would get old.

That's a sweet ride. Mine's changed alittle since that last picture. a whole list of new parts, had a new bottom bracket put in it this past winter. Need to get some new bearings for the pully wheels on the rear derailleur, they've got some play.
