This morning when I went out to the boat nothing worked but the trolling motor. I had green lights across all 4 batteries-3 for the TM and one for the starting battery. But the starting battery was completely dead so I replaced it and everything works.
My question-if the starting battery was dead why was it still showing a green light on the bank charger?

Light is not reliable seen many times especially on the lights built into the boat like some Skeeters.

Dual-Pro? Indicator lights are a pretty common failure on these.

If the lights just measure voltage then they are useless. I have had numerous batteries that showed good volts but did not have the required amps.

I just had the same thing happen and found the cables were not tight on the cranking battery! 4 bank Minkotta.

A cell in the battery can die, and will still display the proper voltage under no load. But the battery won't be able to deliver 12V power at all.

This recommendation is quite common with outboard manufacturers as an open-circuit for the battery connection can result in engine electrical component damage.
