I have a truck dealer and a boat dealer, the price they give me from the jump is there lowest price, we have an understanding, if you ever mess me around there will be no more transactions between us.

They have more room than the let on that they do. The last new boat I bought in 2014 they acted like it was bottom dollar, and I had looked at identical boats at two other dealers, and all three were within $200.00. I asked one of them if I bought it at their asking price today, if they would throw in a Terrova, batteries and a 3 bank charger, and they said yes. I then knew that they had a least $3500.00 to play with. After that we negotiated a better price. From what I can tell, there is far less wiggle room on a $60,000 boat vs. a $60,000 pickup.

There's always negotiation in any big money deal you do, or at least there should be. If not, you didn't get your best price.

Here's a true story for ya.. My son was in the market for a used truck so we went down to our local dealer. They had what he was looking for so we test drove it and took it over to our mechanic because of a noise Mechanic said the drive shaft was slightly bent but no big worries. They were asking 6k and we made offer of 5k but settled at 5500. They said there's not enough mark up on vehicles that are headed to auction. They had another truck that was marked 17,900 then the next day marked 14,900. I told salesman yesterday that truck was marked 17,900 and it's headed to auction. You knocked off 3k and still going to make profit. He had nothing to say. So I told my son when your buying certain things in life like cars and boats. Your going to lose unless your super rich and they don't want to [censored] you off. So unless you don't want to feel that feeling that you just got f--ked over. Don't buy boats and vehicles every time you feel like you want one. Buy it take care of it and keep it as long as you can.

Looking at getting a new bass boat off the lot and will be a first. Considering used also. But my question is, how much do dealers come off of price on new boats? Really looking at skeeters. I know trucks you can get them $10,000-$12,000 off their price. Please feel free to PM me with your personal insight. Let me see if I can help you because now is the time to find a good deal. Buying a new boat with that type of discount will be very difficult no matter where you look. The key is to find a sponsored person who gets a new boat every year and has to move it before they receive the new one. I will share my situation with you, the last two boats I have purchased were done in this situation for the same guy. The boat is approximately 6 to 8 month old and normally has a extended warranty on the motor (approx. 4.5 year of warranty with the option to extend it longer). The boat come fully loaded and the hull warranty is transferable, the trolling motor is warranty is transferrable and the electronics warranty are transferrable. Here is a example, when you purchase the boat it is sent back to the dealer and they run a full diagnostic and inspection on the boat, motor and trailer. If any issue are found they are fixed. Here is the guy I am referring to. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/boats4salenitro.htm. 16 Nitro Z21, 16 250 Merc Pro XS. Third boat down...Shonn Goodwin. This boat is loaded, price it out and compare and notice the warranty is till 2021. I personally know 5 individuals who have purchase his boats, some of us on multiple occasions. All satisfied and no complaints. I would purchase it but my wife tells me it is ridicules to sell a perfectly good boat and everything is still under warranty just to stroke my ego, she is right. If you have any questions PM me and we can talk. Hope this helps.
