So I got to fish the brand new Rago Weedless swimbait while I was down at Toledo last week. While the lake was flooding and entirely too muddy to throw a swimbait, I had a new bait on my hands and had to check it out. I was able to get a couple catches on this bait and can't wait to explore it some more on Fork! This is a 7 inch bait and right now I'm rigging it on an Owner 8/0, 3/8oz belly weighted hook, and swimming it as slow as I can over shallow grass flats in the 2-6 foot range. It has a much harder thump or swimming action than the other weedless options available in big profile swimbaits right now. I believe this why I was able to get bites in dirty water where I normally wouldn't be comfortable throwing a swimbait. I also believe it will shine in the post spawn when big females are hungry and more aggressive. I'm throwing this bait on 20lb flouro. You can't throw this bait weightless however due to the bigger paddle tail which causes the bait to not run true without weight. It's a completely different action and speed of presentation than the Smashtech Convict which is the other big weedless swimbait I'm throwing right now. I'm also excited come summer to rig this on a 3/4oz weighted hook and throw it deep in the trees. Should be a versatile bait that catches big fish. They are available exclusively at Oak Ridge Marina at Lake Fork and will be on their website soon. Here's a little video I put together from my first few catches on this bait. Good luck hope this helps somebody catch a new personal best!

Now that's how you set the hook!

That's a damn good looking bait. I can feel my wallet getting lighter as I speak. . .

yea it is. sure are a lot of posts abt that lure, which just happened to go on sale exclusively at a lake fork tackle shop. . .covert marketing at its finest.

There was only 2 post about it. Barry at oak ridge, which is where it's for sale asked me to delay the footage and report until he was ready to sell as far as inventory goes. No covert marketing here. Just trying to share the info on a new and slightly different take on the weedless big swimbait. I believe Mr Oilfield was having a little fun with y'all. Thanks for the comments guys above. I will report back on any success we have the more I get to throw it on Fork.

Yeah I've known Chris for a long time and he's good guy. Seems he's always doing something for others instead of himself every time we talk.

That is a great bait. I bought and fished one yesterday and will be buying more of them. I wouldn't recommend catching channel cat with them like I did.
