I've been catching nice females and medium to small males around brush piles in the slips for the last couple weeks pretty steady. Last couple of days females have moved shallow to do their thing because I'm only catching very few fish and they are medium to small size. I'll be moving into shallow water today in my yak to see if I can follow the pattern.

Sweet! Nice catch! Haven't fished there in years. Used to catch my limits occasionally there. Thanks for the report.

I'm thinking they are still moving in/out with this up and down weather. From what I have been hearing and seeing is that there are very few fish actually up and actively spawning right now. Some males have moved up in places though to get ready for the females.

When the females aren't in the slips waiting around brush piles anymore, they've gone somewhere.
a friend of mine fished Bridgeport yesterday in a feeder creek on the north end and caught some fat females with eggs in 2' of water. Of course that's a completely different lake and I've never fished it.

Very true but they could have also pulled back out. I caught some fish in 1 foot of water with eggs running out of them in mid February but none since. Its been a weird spring so far. The females haven't made a strong push at my slips at Grapevine yet but then again the lake is 14 ft high.

I live next to pecan creek so I take my yak out the often this time of year. I was catching crappie pretty regular till the rain hit last week. I'm about to head out now just to see if anything has changed.

I am on Eagle Point Marina and have been able to catch a few but it hasn't been 'great' there yet. I am catching a lot of under fish for each keeper and hope that changes soon.

I still catch the occasional Toad though.

Now to stir the pot stir!!! I have also been catching quite a few 2-3" crappie which I know isn't from last years spring spawn so they must be from the FALL SPAWN!!!!!

With the lake being 3' high, there sure is a lot of cover for them to be hiding inn. Wish the lake was at normal pool.
