Was looking to go to fish for whites at palestine and the Neches river this weekend. Will the water be down to make either one fishable?

Thanks for any info.

I never been there before but do you access the spillway from the east side or the west side ?

The only question left is.........is there any water at the spillway since they're not releasing any water right now ?

It's a spillway so its an uncontrolled flow/release unlike a dam where they can control the release.
The lake is over pool by 1.5-2ft. so theres plenty of water coming down into the river

This page shows no water release at all.
Click on the lake Palestine tab.

yes water flows over the spillway until the lake drops back to normal pool.

Dusk and dawn with a Redfin can produce some amazing results.
I don't go anymore , too many trashy people. I won't fish with people who think it is ok to leave dirty diapers and dump castnets of shad to rot on the bank.
Good luck.

MO: not much trash on the ground today.
I carried my trash out with me as we all should.

I went for about 1/2 day & did fairly well for my 1rst trip there.
I caught many Stripers & Hybrids that were 17" & back to the water they went.
I also caught 2 LMB's that were 14"-16" & back they went.
I did manage some keepers but it took some work.
If I had stayed longer I could've got my limit of Stripers/Hybrids.

The water is screaming over the spillway right now.

A few people were out on both sides of the river.
The water was running 90mph which made fishing hard.

Also some guys fishing in the "no trespassing area"

Glad I went yesterday morning.
This cold front might slow them down for the next few days.
I'll go again when it warms up again & see what happens.
