 Big Spawning Bass

Tuesday I went fishing and saw a big bass right up by the bank. Well, I think it was big because all I could see was its tail up, not once did I see its head or full body but it looked to be a nice sized fish. I tried flipping to it but after a few casts it swam off and I didn't see it again. Anybody know what was up with this fish?

Probably not committed to the bed just yet. Sounds like it was a little spooky. When it does commit to the bed it should not swim off. Sometimes when both male/female are in the bed he will bump her up on her side and tail sometimes is up high.Could have been a big male just getting the bed ready. Did you only see one fish ?

Your title states what was up. She was spawning. And I'm sure there was a male doing the pirouette with her. Virtually impossible to catch when they are doing this.

Yeah there was only 1 fish from what I could see. The water was real dirty so I couldn't see if the bottom was cleaned out for a bed but that would make since if it was a male getting the bed ready.
