I am going to add this to the console area of my boat. I do not want to drill holes in my hull or cap....where would be the best spot to put this?

As close to your transducer as possible. You can use some 3M VHB tape to secure it.

As close to the transducer as possible. I've had mine mounted for about 3 years using the 3M tape and its still as solid as ever. May want to check the mounting location with the motor running and using a hand held compass prior to mounting it just to make sure the compass wont be interfered with.

What does a Point 1 antenna have to do with the transducer? I understand that a GPS antenna located near the transducer provides more accurate waypoints. It is my understanding that a Point 1 is an electronic compass, that improves tracking, and eliminates wandering.
I've mounted mine in the middle of the boat - works perfectly.

Enlighten me please.

Both, antenna & compass. Now I have heard that the internal is just as good as the point1 on the new graphs; but it still receives gps info and that would still be best by the transducer.

I had mine mounted by the transducer on my old boat and mounted it on the center console on my current boat. I prefer it in the center of the boat. When it shows me on a waypoint I am directly on top of it. If you fish out of the front of the boat and your Point 1 is mounted near your rear transducer, you are 18-20' away from where your graph shows you to be. I mark most of my structure w/ side scan and then when I am navigate to that waypoint it is directly under the center of the boat instead of under the back of the boat. I can find brush piles easier with the front graph since I have moved the antenna to the middle of the boat.

Like most have said, you want it as close to the transducer as possible.

You set the console graph to read heading and GPS from the Point 1. You set the bow graph to read heading from the Point 1 and the GPS from the graph. This way you are always right on the spot.
