My BIL and his good friend are coming down from Massachusetts April 8-11. Two of those days we are fishing with a guide on Fork. The other two days were up for grabs. We had planned on fishing Caddo because its such a unique place and I wanted them to get the chance to fish it but it looks like it may not be fishable for a while. I am now thinking possibly one day on Bob Sandlin. I have never fished it but I saw the Honey Hole episode they fished out there last year and they tore them up. Give me some suggestions. This will be my BIL third trip here but his friends first trip and it has been his bucket list to come fish Fork and in Texas. Don't need spots but some ideas or suggestions as to some lakes near Fork or Longview (where I live).

I was thinking that but it will be a tough drive. They are here a Friday-Monday. Will be on Fork Saturday and Sunday.

I would ditch the guide on Fork and fish Toledo for 4 days

Also, it's only 3 hours from Emory to Hemphill

Your Fork then Sandlin idea is probably solid too. A few years ago I fished with a guide on fork and then applied the same techniques I learned from him to Winnsboro and Sandlin a few weeks later and did really well. Not the same lakes obviously but I think they fish a lot alike. You might have a great time on one of those lakes that are a little less pressured!!

Bob Sandlin would be my vote, I fished it 2 weekends ago and we did really good. Caught 2 over 6lbs, 1 over 4lb and 6-8 1-2bers When the bass bite slowed down we went to the middle of the lake and wore out some white bass..from about 12-2pm. 2 of us caught about 75-100 .5lbs -2lb slabs..They are great fighters. It was fun for a few hours, I'd highly recommend it. Look for the seagulls and underwater humps and just throw a small crankbait or jigging spoon..really throw anything and find them on the graph and you'll have a ton of fun...then go back and hit the coves for the big girls in the evening.

2nd choice would be Lake Athens...caught some great numbers there last weekend. My dad's fish.
Caught 13 1-3lbers..my dad caught about 7. Didn't see antyhing huge but its a great grass lake and fun to fish..

Good luck guys!
