What baits would you throw on it?

Mostly medium to deep diving cranks. Basically anything where you are going to want more torque and less speed. Baits that have more resistance in the water, etc. But mostly they are used for deep diving crankbaits.

But back in the day 5.4:1 worked for just about everything so its really just a preference thing these days.

I fish swimbaits and A-rigs on it, but some people prefer a very FAST retrieve for that, but I try to entice the fish to bite by getting them to bite the slower retrieve and it works, too. Hope this helps. OH, and deep, medium, shallow diving CBs. MOST people throw square bills on 6.3:1 or higher, I throw a 5.1:1 and get a lot more bites, because I get to cover the area more thoroughly. Of course, you cover more ground with the 6.3:1, too and get to more active fish, s yen and yang.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

That's what I use on my tx rig and weightless rig...it helps me slow down a little. I catch more and better fish when I dead stick, and slow crawl.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

I like my 7.1.1. for those applications. All about being able to get them out of the carp quick!
