Well it took 18lbs to win a 2 hour evening tournament there yesterday. It's just like any other lake. Gotta fish hard and find something to try and pattern.

I use a drop shot a lot and texas rig

Not sure if you are, but don't pound the bank.. I rarely fish shallower than 7 ft there.

IMO, yeah... its that tough lol.

April 2015 was my first time on Ray Roberts. Granted, the lake flooded in May and hasn't been "normal" the entire time I've been visiting there. That said, the vast majority of people I've talked to all agree that its one of the hardest lakes in North Texas to pattern.

Hands down the best thing I've done was hire Danny Golden to take me fishing out there last fall. I was completely frustrated with that lake, but when I got in his boat I realized just how close I'd come to figuring things out on my own. Gave me a pretty nice confidence boost. Plus, he's just a lot of fun to fish with. I'd recommend hitting him up if the frustration sets in to much.

They were eating a month ago. Water coming up scattered them.

Easiest answer is yes it's tough. Jekyll and Hyde kinda lake. Caught them good one day and can't get bit the very next with no change in conditions. It's always been that way for me and I have been fishing it over 20 years.

I think it has to do with the depth, water clarity, and fluctuations that makes it hard for me. If I ever figure it out, I am certain I can take that same learnin' to one of the riverine impoundments east of here.

Once you break down say a cove, what kind of bottom ?
Rocky,sand,clay,timber-what kind of timber ? Bolders, pea gravel.
Feeder creek, drains, road crossing, fence row, pond dam etc.
1990s i found an old barn with metal roof with corral around it.
Caught lot's of bass around it.When it decayed and crashed to the bottom
I started pulling out 8 & 9 lbers.very few know about it.
House foundations Bass spawn on them every year.
Hope yall can use this.
Good casting !!!

Last lake in North Texas to turn on. It's a deep cold water lake. Life is too short to have to fish cold muddy water.
Much better places to fish in the winter. Yes it's still winter. Go South and East, then go to RR in April thru June.
