Well, my luck with Lake Fork is terrible to put it bluntly. A friend and I have made the trip to mother fork the last 3 spring breaks in a row and each trip has had horrible weather conditions. Our first trip we had snow, sleet, and ice all three days we fished and caught a total of 4 bass. We even hired a guide the first day but only caught two fish right before dark but that is a whole story by itself.
The next year the lake was at record lows during the drought and we fished two days and caught two in hurricane winds. Last year we fished two days and caught 2 bass again in 25-35 mph winds both days. Not a single bedfish to be found either trip.
This year I ve been excited because the weather is warmer and more stable, plus the spawn is underway! But alas, we are coming down for Sunday and Monday to fish and the mega bass is on Sunday. Is it even worth fighting the boats on fork or should we just hit another area lake?
Any area lakes you guys can recommend that you have fished recently like Athens or Holbrook that we should hit on Sunday? We make this trip every year from Arkansas and I would like this to be a good triP that includes more than 2 fish ha ha. Not asking for your spots or gps, just best reccomendation for a lake nearby we can get on some spawning bass, or any bass for that matter.
Thanks in advance!

My .02... change it up this year and go to Toledo Bend. There is a reason it was ranked #1 lake in the USA.
If you do go to Fork either Athens, Holbrook, or Quitman (not gonna bed fish on Quitman its always dirty) would all be good places to try.

Fork will be crowded Sunday for sure, but if your gonna fish it Sunday, might as well enter the tournament, only takes one cast, could be your lucky year. If not, might try Lake Winnsboro. Good Luck.

I'm not interested in fishing the megabass... Fork is crowded during the spawn already and I don't care for having 5 boats surrounding me in all directions and being cut off at every turn. Add in another 2000+ boats and I'm afraid I might blow a gasket just trying to find an area to fish. I'd much rather fish elsewhere and hit Fork up Sunday night and Monday. My home lake is not heavily pressured, there was about 30 boats at most last weekend and that is due to the bed fisherman. The rest of the year I rarely ever see more than 10 boats a day and I fish it every week. I'm not used to the chaos and aggressiveness you guys deal with daily down there.

Go to Athens, all the locals on here love when us out-of-towners show up on the weekends.

Come on over to Athens,,,,, I'll show you where to fish.......maybe not where the fish are, but where to fish Sunday is usually slow "early" in the morning. I am going out this evening and tomorrow. I'll let you know how it is fishing.

I'd go to T-Bend, pick a major creek arm, and fish.

Just heads up, mega bass is over at 230PM, still plenty of time to fish after that. Maybe hit a different lake in the morning, have lunch and go out on fork in the afternoon

Yes, it's crowded, but there won't be many guys on the lake that aren't fishing the tournament. I would estimate 1200 boats on the water.

Fork is becoming a sandbass lake.
Toledo Bend is on fire, Sounds like Athens might be good, Lake Quitman is close to Fork and usually pretty fun to fish...
Cypress Springs would be on my list

If I had the time to go I would be on Toledo Bend If you don't want to go that far just fish Cypress Springs ,Bob Sandlin or Monticello
