Finally my fiancée and I have a day off and away from wedding planning and want to hit a lake. Been pretty busy with work but I've been following the spawn this year and it seems like it's a good time to go fishing! This Monday we were thinking about going to Ray Roberts for some sights and fishing! Where would y'all go to run into any species of fish and maybe bank for a little and explore around. We've never been to Ray Roberts so thought we might give it a try. Any help is appreciated.

Check which way the wind is blowing and get on the east or west side whichever has some windblown banks. On the east side the Sand Branch cove between Jordan Park ramp and Isle De Bois has some nice flats with weeds and willows. Might be a good paddle 1/2 mile to get there if you go all the way to the boat ramp. You might be able to park on the road into Jordan and carry a yak 50yds to the water. Over on the west side you can put in by the marina and go to the flats by the dam or hang around there and dock shoot the marina. The lake gets rough if the wind is over 10mph

Muzzle thank you so much that was an awesome response. I see on Google maps there is what looks like an island toward the Northeast side. Is that solid land that we could get out and explore? Thanks again

Johnson Branch state park has a boat ramp in a cove off of the main lake that has timber on the northern most end of the cove. There's also a little feeder creek up there. Great area for kayaks because it's pretty protected from the wind. Cats, crappie, Bass, etc in that area.

Thanks again There is no camping allowed over on the big Wolf Island but I think you may be able to land and walk around on it. There are deer on that island too. It's a long way to paddle to get to Wolf Island.
