Absolutely not. A jig imitates a crawfish or a bream really well, and those prey species exist in all the lakes you mentioned. Interestingly, soft plastics account for 232 of Texas 550 some odd ShareLunkers. Jigs account for another 100. I think jigs would be higher, but lots of folks don't like them because they hang up easily, get fewer bites(though larger) than on other baits they have more confidence in. Here's an interesting piece written by Ray Sasser awhile back.

I've always heard that a jig catches quality fish. I guess I just don't know how to fish one. I can flip a Texas Rigged Senko and catch fish and then put it down to see if I can get a bite on a jig and I get nothing. I've actually been on the boat when a buddy of mine was catching fish on a jig but I couldn't buy a bite.

Same here but to be fair I do not commit to fishing it long enough. My goal is to focus more on jigs but when it is really tough I usually go for the wacky worm

For me it's a T-rig Havoc Pitboss. Not sure why, but I can always get a fish on it. Even when nothing else works.

I always go for the t-rig senko with a light weight. I never fish a wacky rig. Maybe I need to start.

Well, not really. Usually some for of weightless soft plastic if it gets hard or very light weight.

7" Berkley Power Worm. Might not always fish it but it's on deck.

I'll take a skunk before changing my favorite way to fish year round.

A good rule of angling philosophy is not to interfere with another fisherman's ways of being happy, unless you want to be hated.

My dad will never be on the lake without a watermelon red power worm.
