The part that bothers me the most is more and more shelf space is being taken up by their own brand.
Tackle Warehouse is getting more and more of my fishing dollars.

Thanks Jignpig.......another cheaper source. Wondering if BPS matches online prices??? Brannas top, BPS bottom BPS price matches both their online site and competitors; all you have to do is ask them to do so. InvisX is considerably higher at BPS than Academy and they have met their price every time I've purchased it from them.

Just wanted to make sure there isn't any confusion here.
BPS will price match local, physical competitors (Cabelas and Academy for example).
They will not price match online only competitors (Amazon and Tackle Warehouse for example).

It just takes a while to see savings at BPS. If you use their rewards card. I have gone several times and not paid a dime. You have to take that into account when figuring out what your overall costs are.

Fertilizer at Home Depot.....Talk about mark up.
Pays to at least look online before u shop. LMAOO... no kidding, go to a local feed store if you can find one.. you'll pay 12.00 dollars a bag vs. 52.00 dollars at H/D.. BPS is charging 25.00 dollars for 2-cycle syn-blend oil per gal, Academy and some Walmarts charge 19.99 per gallon. I see this everytime I go to BPS.. I rarely go there anymore...

Thats true FishingKing....recently I used my rewards to get a $159.99 down to about $14. I still have them price match as much as possible and if you catch the right manager, they will price match Walmarts online price which they list about everything you can think of and offer free shipping to the store for pickup. Had to use that little jewel a few times to motivate a price match or three.

Why would anyone shop at bass pro shops? So many other better options out there. BPS sucks donkey butt. JMO though.

I like the convenience of BPS but lately have been noticing how much more they mark things up. I don't really like mail order much but I have started pricing things out with other local stores like Academy. A $10 item at Academy can be like $30 at BPS for the identical product.
My wife used to like to give me BPS gift cards. I told her to stop. I only shop there when the item can't be bought somewhere else. I understand they are in the business to make money but so are the other stores that charge a reasonable markup and don't have the volume to buy at discounted prices. BPS makes less money from me because of this practice. Well said. I agree 100%. I stop in BP about once a month and walk the isles and look at everything. And every time I do I shake my head at the prices. I'll buy something every now and then but not very often because of the prices. I buy most of my tackle, ammo, hunting supplies, boat stuff at Academy too. Cabelas is right there with BP on prices. But I probably buy more at Cabelas than BP. Lets face it. Bass Pro and Cabela's pander to the customer who don't care about price. Their target customer is the upper middle class and upper class. It is so obvious. Just walk through the store and look around. Nothing wrong with that. Just making a point. So you big money guys don't go jumping on me for making an obvious point.

Negatory on the ripping. Computer locked price. I took it back for a refund after ordering it on Amazon. She asked me why. I told her I'd found it $45 cheaper on Amazon. She said she tells them all the time that they're too high but the boss says that their labor costs are high.
I did discover however that OReily's can get outboard parts, at least to some extent. And the guy there told me he would've have beaten Amazon's price.
good point on OReily's. I have a Honda 115 4 stroke on my pontoon boat. last year I made my rounds looking for a place to buy filters, impeller, etc. I ended up at a small engine shop in Plano that sells Honda Outdoor Power equipment like lawn mowers etc. They have parts books on the Honda outboards. I do all my own maintenance and repairs so this is a good resource for you Honda guys.
